After 9/11 the US Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Agency launched wholesale strategies to protect critical US maritime ports, aviation facilities and other transportation hubs against the threat of terrorism. As required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act, DHS worked to identify solutions that helped strengthen their identification process for workers who need access to secure areas of the nation’s maritime facilities and vessels.
Since 2007 Ipsidy, in coordination with our partner, Accenture Federal, has provided IDSearch™ to support the issuance of the US Transportation Worker Identification Credential, also known as TWIC, to 4.5 million DHS employees.
